Natural stone · Rajasthan, India
Kandla Grey sandstone is a natural, silver to blue grey Indian sandstone and one of the best known grey paving stones in the UK and Ireland. We stock it in the UK as 22mm calibrated patio packs, 600x900 paving and rock faced coping, delivered on pallets.

What it is
Kandla Grey is a fine-grained, quartz-based natural sandstone quarried in Rajasthan, India. It has a soft grey to blue grey tone with subtle veining and only occasional buff or beige shading, which makes it one of the most even colours in Indian sandstone.
That consistency is why it is so popular. It suits a clean modern patio and a traditional garden alike, and sits as well beside Victorian brickwork as beside a glass-fronted extension. Dense and hard-wearing, it handles foot traffic, garden furniture and freeze-thaw winters.
Silver when dry, blue when wet. Rain deepens the colour to a charcoal or blue grey, and it returns to its original shade once dry.

Colour and pairing
It works best in cool, clean palettes. Real gardens laid with Kandla Grey:

Sharp contrast for contemporary gardens.

Bright, clean and minimal.

Adds warmth to a cool patio.

Grey makes foliage stand out.
Finishes
Riven is the finish we stock in the UK and the most popular for gardens. Ask the team about the other finishes for larger projects. Smooth sawn faces can feel slippery when wet, so take care near pools and steps.

Yes. The silver grey turns a deeper charcoal or blue grey after rain and returns to its original shade once dry.
It reaches a wet PTV of 36 or more, which the HSE rates as low slip risk. The riven face gives good grip in damp conditions.
Sealing is optional but recommended. It protects against oil, wine and leaf stains and slows moss growth. Test the sealer on a spare slab first.
22mm calibrated is the UK standard for patios and paths. For driveways use thicker slabs or cobbles.
