Stone Paving
Common questions about our Indian sandstone and limestone paving, answered in one place.
We recommend it. A breathable impregnating sealer applied after installation protects against staining from wet leaves, garden debris and moisture. On dark stones such as Kota Black it also helps hold the colour against UV fading.
Yes. Our limestones such as Kota Blue, Kota Black and Tandur Yellow are high-density stones with good frost resistance, suitable for outdoor paving through freeze-thaw cycles when laid on a proper base.
Our paving is 20mm or 22mm calibrated, depending on the range. Calibrated means the slabs are machined to an even thickness, which makes them quicker and more consistent to lay than uncalibrated stone.
Yes. Our 22mm calibrated sandstone, such as Kandla Grey and Raj Green, can be used for residential driveways when it is laid on a full mortar bed over a properly prepared sub-base. For a cobbled or traditional driveway look, our 40mm Mint sandstone setts and cobbles are another option.
Kandla Grey and Raj Green come as 4-size patio packs, mixed slab sizes that lay in a random pattern, as well as single 600x900mm slabs. Each product page lists the sizes in UK stock.
No. Natural stone varies in tone and marking from slab to slab, which is part of its appeal. If you want a uniform look, porcelain is the better fit.
Riven stone is split along its natural layers for a textured, traditional surface. Sawn and honed stone is cut flat for a smooth, modern finish. Our Indian Sandstone buyer's guide covers both.
